For the Kolping Society work is not only necessary as a means of subsistence, but also as an opportunity for self-realization and - as a service to the community - an obligation for Christians world-wide.

Its members are expected to undergo professional and/or vocational training and constant upgrading. Personal commitment within the scope of the opportunities available is also expected. The Kolping Society attaches particular importance to the provision of decent working conditions.

Marriage and family
The Kolping Society regards the family as the most important prerequisite for the personal development of the individual and thus also for the evolution of a moral society. The Kolping Society advocates due recognition and preservation of marriage and family - in the political arena and in society. It encourages its members to bear witness to the values of marriage and family, and to perceive the tasks and opportunities for the family in the service of society.
